- How do i book my Ticket?
You can book your ticket at your nearby railway station and chose your preferable Class. What you need to have is Identity Card i.e you can use Voters Card, Driving License, Citizenship Card, Job ID Card, Insurance Card and letter of identification from the local government. On top of that all our Passenger Trains have the option to pre-book a seat for First and Second Class as for third Class you can book when you have a special case.
- Do I need my ID when travelling with train?
You will need your ID card when traveling with Train for safety purposes and passenger identification. The acceptable cards are Voters Card, Driving License, Citizenship Card, Job ID Card, Insurance Card or a letter of identification from the local government.
- How to change my Travel Day
Changing the travel day is acceptable if the passenger informs us three hours before the departure of the train only if the chosen day seats are available.
- Are booked ticket charges refundable and if so, who do I need to contact?
Yes booked tickets can be refunded only if when you inform us three hours before the train departure and after that will be non-refundable, when you inform us early we can reallocate or sell to another passenger.
In any other circumstance a passenger can claim for refund.

- Do you offer refreshments?
Yes, we have a restaurant car that is full of snack menu and drinks for an additional fee to keep you refreshed. Hot, cold and alcoholic drinks are available.
- Is it safe to travel with Train?
On all our trips, safety is our top priority, as is the health and safety of all our crew and Passengers; we follow strict working procedures and rules. They are well trained certified professionals. In addition to the standards required, we encourage and demand permanent training, evaluation and learning.
We also provide all necessary equipment to guarantee our clients safety (first aid kit, fire extinguishers) and all our trek expeditions maintain contact via portable radios. We also count with General Positioning System (GPS) for longer expeditions.
- What is the difference between Metre GaugeRailway(MGR) and Standard Gauge Railway(SGR)?
Metre Gauge Railways(MGR) are narrow-gauge railways with track gauge of 1000 mm or 1 metre that is capable of running not more than Speed of KM/H and carrying not more 5,000,000 tones a year. While Standard Gauge Railways(SGR)narrow-gauge railways with track gauge of 1435 mm or 1.435 metre that is capable of running up to Speed of 160KM/H and carrying more than 25.000,000 tones a year.
- Do you offer Transshipment with other transportation?
Goods from Tazara can be transshipped from/to TRC system at Dar essalaam port. A transshipment facility is also operative at kidatu (its operated by Trans Africa Railways corporation) it will facilitate business in the East Africa and SADCC sub Region
- Do you carry cargo?
Yes, we carry cargos of three types which are parcels, luggage and goods which can be accompanied and un-accompanied. Accompanied luggage or goods should be not more than 110kg per Passenger.
- Can I pre-book my preferred Class?
Yes, on all our Passenger Trains you have the option to pre-book your seat for First and Second Class as for third Class you can book when you have a special case
